Ostomy Association of North Central Oklahoma

Virtual Run for Resilience – Stillwater OK – October 5, 2019

In support of UOAA’s 2019 Ostomy Awareness Day, our group is holding a Virtual Run for Resilience in Stillwater, Oklahoma on October 5, 2019. UOAA’s complete Run for Resilience series includes fully organized 5k Run/Walk events in 8 cities this year, some with timed races on certified courses, as well as more informal “Virtual” events that can be held anywhere. Ours will be one of the informal “Virtual” events (and it’s definitely not a race!).

Show your support for people with an ostomy or continent diversion by participating in our virtual Walk/Run event. Details of the event are as follows:

Location:   Boomer Lake, Stillwater OK, meet at southwest parking lot (see map below)
Date:   Saturday, Oct 5, 2019
Time:   2:00 pm

To participate in this Walk/Run event, please Register for the Event. You have a choice of either registering for $15 and getting a technical T-shirt, or registering for free and getting only a bib number. (For the T-shirt option, please register by September 13th to be sure of getting a shirt that will be mailed to you before the event.)

In addition, if you’d like to help support UOAA, you can make a donation at runsignup.com/stillwater-ok-ostomy-walk-donate

Once you’re registered, come to the starting area (Boomer Lake southwest parking lot, as shown in the map below) at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 6th. Wear your event T-shirt, if you purchased one, and wear your bib number pinned to the front of your shirt.

[Boomer Lake, Stillwater, Oklahoma]

The Boomer Lake SOUTHWEST parking lot, shown by a red rectangle in the above map, is near the intersection of Lakeview Road and North Washington Street. As shown by the map’s red arrows, you can reach this parking lot by entering the park from either Washington Street (about midway between Lakeview Road and Airport Road) or from Lakeview Road (just east of Washington Street).

After meeting at this parking lot, we’ll take photos and then do a walk (or run, if you wish) on the path that circles the lake. A loop around the lake is approximately 5 km (or, to be precise, it’s closer to 4.9 km). Most of us will do a lap around the lake, but if you don’t want to go that far, that’s okay – any distance you walk or run is fine. (And if you’d like to do multiple laps, that’s fine too!)

And, remember that whether or not you walk or run in our event, you can still donate on the event’s fundraising page.
